First day sucks

I spent the day after Jess and I went out unpacking some more and taking a small tour of Boston. I'll say one thing for the city, though: it sure seems like a nice place to live. People seem extremely nice (except a guy who almost body slammed me when I was trying to cross the street) and the city itself is amazing. All in all, the weekend went pretty well, if I do say so myself.

Monday morning was a bitch. First day of my new job, and my alarm clock didn't go off (doesn't this always seem to happen on the days that you really need it to function properly). I checked for the reason and saw that it was set to 6:30 PM instead of AM...grrrreat. So I didn't have time to eat breakfast, I half-assed my way through putting on make up and doing my hair (a.k.a. putting it up), and ran out to catch the bus. Problem? Of course. The bus NEVER CAME. So instead of coming in to work early on my first day to make a good impression, I was a little late.

Thank god the manager was nice enough not to give me the stink eye when greeting me, but he did stare at my hair for several moments. Wonder why that was.

After giving me a tour of the surgery unit (my new job is assistant manager in charge of the surgery unit at the hospital), he brought me into a board room filled with people dressed in expensive suits. After introducing me to all the other employees, he began to talk about current issues that required attention in the hospital. And of course, because the day wasn't bad enough, my stomach started growling extremely loudly during his speech. I instinctively covered it with my hands, but of course that didn't do anything. I glanced around to see if anyone could hear it and saw that the woman on my left was giving me a stink eye this time. The guy on my right, however, was trying extremely hard not to laugh. After glancing at me, he whispered, "you have a huge cowlick that you might want to fix after the meeting," and continued to hold himself back from laughing.

Great. Is it too much to ask to have a normal first day and not appear to be a hungry cowlick- prone late idiot? Guess again, folks.

Question? did you take writing classes in college or something?

My Degree is in writing and we sorta write the same. I was just curious if it was my training or just my god given talent :)

Check my blog out and answer my question on my comments!
