Lost cause

So...good news and bad news to tell. The bad news is that things between Jess and Sarah have not improved and will probably never work. Damn, I really wanted the three of us to be close, kind of like "the trio," which sounds a little lame when I think about it. I tried once more, unsuccessfully, to have a little get-together with the three of us. Let's just say it didn't work out, and I honestly have no idea why these two girls seem to dislike each other so damn much. When we went out Saturday night, it felt as if there was a real reason for the tension between them, almost as if they already knew each other, but that can't be, right? Wouldn't they have mentioned that? Anyway. Lost cause.

The good news comes with bad news. During the second disaster Saturday night, Sarah suggested that I meet her brother (didn't know she had one), which seemed to completely piss Jess off. Normally I'm definitely not a fan of blind dates, but I was so annoyed with both of them that I ended up agreeing. Apparently Sarah doesn't like wasting time because she set something up for the next day, Sunday. This get-together consisted of me, Sarah, her brother and his friend. The entire time Sarah basically tried to push her her brother, Connor, on me (not literally), but I wasn't interested because I didn't feel a click. However (and remember that there always has to be a however in my life; it's just the way it works), while Connor was talking to me (don't ask me what about), I couldn't stop looking at his friend, John (what's with all the Johns all of a sudden-John #1 is from work, and off-limits). The reason has nothing to do with his looks, although they're definitely not bad, but something about him intrigued me (that also sounds lame). John, however, didn't seem to share my interest because he kind of ignored me.

To sum it all up? No problem. Jess and Sarah hate each other, Sarah wants me and Connor to be interested in each other, Connor is interested and I'm not, and John #2 ignores and avoids me like the plague. Any questions?

Don't even go there

Remember when I said work was going great? Well, as of now I take that back. For some reason they decided to lead me in holding me by the hand and yesterday they decided to drop kick my ass into the deep end of the pool. Or, to say that in a less dramatic way-they pretty much stopped guiding me at all and expect me to know everything. WTF?? This is not what I expected. How am I supposed to know what to do in every situation? It's not like I was given some manual with cases and solutions, ahhh! Anyway, ahem. Done with the ranting, at least for now.

Work aside, my friendship with Sarah is progressing very nicely. Since we were spending a lot of time together, I decided to introduce her to Jess, my other friend, to see if they would hit it off. I was hoping (best case scenario) that the three of us could be really close and become good friends, eventually. But sadly, my best laid plans did not work out, and that's an understatement. For some reason, when the three of us went out, they just didn't click. They didn't really talk to each other, and after a while both of them kind of stopped talking to me, so the whole night was spent in awkward silence. Well, check plus for effort?

The only thing that got me through the last couple of days was the guy at work I mentioned, whose name is Luke. He seems like a nice guy (although I am definitely aware that appearances can be deceiving) and he has a great sense of humor, much like mine (joking mixed with sarcasm). The best thing? He actually gets all my jokes and isn't put off by my occasional sarcasm, which usually intimidates other people. This would be a very nice development, except for a small detail: I work with him! I'm not stupid enough to mix work with pleasure, as they say, which never ends well. Great. I meet a decent guy and he's off limits. Does the universe realize how damn hard it is to find a decent guy these days? Ugh.

Every time I picture him in a fantasy, I need to remind myself, "Don't even go there!"
